Puducherry, May 9(BPNS)
The Union Territory of Puducherry has recorded 26 deaths on Sunday which is the highest in a single day due to Covid -19. The UT recorded a total of 965.
The territory also recorded 1633 fresh cases in a single day taking the total number of active cases to 71,709. This was stated by the Health department of the Union territory of Puducherry. The test positivity rate is 18.10 percent.
The Puducherry region recorded the highest deaths in the territory with 22 fatalities, Karaikal 2 ,Mahe and Yanam recorded 1 death each. Of the deceased 13 had comorbidities.
Health and Family Services director Mohan Kumar in a statement said that a total of 9022 samples were tested in the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Sunday. There are 14,034 active cases in the territory. 1158 patients recovered from the disease.
Mohan Kumar said that 32,965 health care workers and 19,458 frontline workers were vaccinated so far in the Union territory.
