AIADMK coordinator and former Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has on Friday demanded a detailed probe into the reported death of a Covid-19 patient at Cuddalore Government hospital on Thursday.
In a press statement the AIADMK leader referred to a video circulating on social media in this regard and called upon the government to take action against those responsible. He also asked the government to provide a solatium to the family of the dead person.
He also called upon the government to take legal action against those who had removed Oxygen and ventilator support of the patient.
Edappadi K Palaniswami said that Raja 49 of Tittakudi panchayat was admitted to Cuddalore government hospital on May 8 for breathlessness and was undergoing treatment at the ICU. However the staff attempted to remove the oxygen and ventilator support. Raja’s wife Kasturi tried in vain to prevent the staff from removing the life supporting equipment and he eventually died.
The former Chief minister called upon the government to evoke provisions under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and take legal action against the offenders.
