AIADMK leader and former minister S.P.Velumani at Tuticorin for temple darshan

Even as the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti –Corruption (DVAC) sleuths of the Tamil Nadu police were conducting raids on the premises of KCP Engineers Private Ltd, which is owned by an associate of his, the former minister and AIADMK leader S.P.Velumani airdashed to Thoothukudi for darshan in a temple.

The DVAC officers had conducted raids on the premises of S.P.Velumani , his brother and their relatives and associates on Tuesday and the raids are now continuing at KCP Engineers is owned by an associate of the minister.

Unfazed the minister told reporters at Tuticorin airport that he would provide a detailed interaction with the media in a couple of days’ time.

The former minister who reached Tuticorin airport on the morning of Wednesday left for Chennai by afternoon. It was not known to which temple, S.P.Velumani, had gone for prayers.

The former minister while interacting with reporters said,” The raids were a part of the political vendetta of the DMK government. My leaders O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi K. Palaniswami have already responded on the raids in a detailed joint statement.”

He said that former  Tamil Nadu fisheries minister and senior leader of AIADMK, D. Jayakumar had also responded to the DVAC raids at his place.

S.P.Velumani said, I was supposed to reach on Tuesday afternoon at Tuticorin and stay overnight and offer prayers at the temple and return on Wednesday but due to the situation on Tuesday, I was not able to travel and hence I reached here today.”
