Paperless budget reduced book volume, TN Finance minister

Tamil Nadu finance minister, PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan said that the first paperless budget presented by him the state assembly has reduced from the regular 1600 to 400 . He hinted that this has reduced the expenditure.

The finance minister in a reply to a question by AIADMK legislator,Rajan Chellappa on Tuesday said that the government has been giving 68 to 70 books to each MLA and that many of the legislators were not using them. He said that finally these books totaling 8500 pages were bundled together and sold to paper market.

The AIADMK legislator welcomed the initiative of a paperless budget and felicitating the MLA’s to use the computers, he also requested to issue hard copies.

The Finance minister said that the government had initially wanted to print only 200 books but as the Chief Minister insisted the finance ministry printed 400 books to be distributed to the MLA’s.
