Vice President to reach Puducherry on Sunday for three-day visit

Vice President of India, M. Venkiah Naidu will reach Puducherry on Sunday for a three-day visit of the Union Territory. The Vice President will inaugurate a solar power plant at Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) on Sunday morning.

Puducherry Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister of the Union Territory, N. Rangasamy will participate.

JIPMER in a press statement on Saturday morning said that the Vice President would inaugurate the Solar power plant. The statement said that the total installed capacity of the plant is 1482 KWP and was set up at a cost of Rs 7.67 crore.

The plant will take care of 15 percent of the electricity demand of JIPMER and save 1.7 crore rupees in electricity bills every year as per the present power tariff rates, the statement said.

The Vice President will leave for Aurobindo Ashram and stay at the Raj Nivas for the night. He will dedicate the Pondicherry Technical University at the Pondicherry Engineering College campus on Monday. He will also inaugurate a Solar Power unit at the Pondicherry Central University on Monday.

The Vice President will stay at the Raj Nivas on Monday night and will leave for Chennai on Tuesday morning.
