The body of a Lieutenant Commander with the Indian Navy, J.R. Suresh was retrieved on Friday at Kovalam beach in Chennai. Suresh (36) who was posted at New Delhi had come to his father-in-law’s residence in Chennai and went to Kovalam beach along with his family.
He stayed with his family at a private resort in Kovalam beach on Thursday and he went to the sea in the evening for a swim. Police said that while he was swimming a huge wave came and the family members panicked and alerted him but he could not swim back to the shore and was carried away in the wave.
Fishermen at the beach immediately jumped into the sea on hearing the cries of the family but he could not be traced. The body was retrieved by the divers of the Indian Navy on Friday.
