AIADMK coordinator and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K.Palaniswami has made a serious allegation that the ruling DMK won the recent urban local body elections due to massive malpractices in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVMs).
The AIADMK leader was addressing a political meeting of the party at Salem in protest of the arrest of former Tamil Nadu fisheries minister and party leader D. Jayakumar on Monday.
He said that when the voters pressed any button in the EVM, the votes went to the DMK candidate and alleged that the DMK victory was not a democratic one.
The allegation of the former Chief Minister will create a major political controversy in Tamil Nadu and the DMK is bound to answer the allegations against the party.
It may be noted that the NDA had dismissed the allegations of EVM malpractices and have stuck to the stand that EVMs could not be manipulated. The AIADMK is the electoral alliance partner of the BJP during the loksabha elections as well as assembly elections and the statement from its ally will lead to the BJP coming out in defense of its political stand.
