The Kannakurichi police in Salem district of Tamil Nadu have charged a 30-year-old man for sodomizing a street dog after sedating it. The person, Durai hailed from Chinnatirupathi in Salem district and is absconding.
The police registered a case after receiving a complaint from an animal activist, L. Vidyalakshmi. While speaking to media persons, Vidyalakshmi said that some local people had informed her after witnessing the act.
She said, “When I reached there, local people told me that the dog was unconscious after facing the ordeal and we took it to a local veterinary hospital and doctors told that the dog is in a critical condition.”
The animal rights activist also said that Veterinarians at the hospital had confirmed that the person had given some sedative substance to the dog but is yet to ascertain the sedative that was given to the animal.
Police, on receiving the complaint went to Durai’s house only to find that it was locked and when the police team went inside the house, women’s undergarments were spread on his bed. Local people said that women’s undergarments were missing from the locality that was put the outside for drying but was not aware that it was Durai who had stolen them.
