TN Medical service corporation blacklists pharma company

- June 9, 2022

Chennai, June 9 (BPNS)

Tamil Nadu Medical Service Corporation (TNMSC) has blacklisted pharmaceutical company Abbot healthcare for five years. This is due to the fact that it had hidden the fact that it was banned by the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) and Employees State Insurance Corporation.

The TN Medical service corporation received a complaint against Abbot by mail when the tendering process was on. The corporation conducted an inquiry on the mail and found that the company had not stated the fact that it was facing suspension from other agencies.

The company was first blacklisted by the DGHS for supply of Stromix, a blood thinner, and Becozyme C Forte on quality grounds on April 24, 2018, for five years.

The ESIC blacklisted it in October 2021 for concealing the fact that it was blacklisted by DGHS.

The TNMSC Managing Director Deepak Jacob in a statement said that the company repeated its covering up in Tamil Nadu also. He said that Tamil Nadu was buying ibuprofen 200 mg tablets from the company and also had bought cardiac stents for the lowest price.

Abbot is under scanner by US-FDA after a deadly bacteria, cronobacter was found in its baby formula-making plant in February.
