In a tragic event of a country boat overturning in the Bharathapuzha in Malappuram district on Saturday evening, the bodies of two more people were recovered, taking the total death toll to four. All the dead are mussel collectors.
The bodies of Abdul Salam and Aboobacker were recovered on Sunday after they were found missing following the boat overturning at Punchakadavu in Chamvravattam area of Bharathapuzha river.
On Saturday night itself, the bodies of Rukhiya and Sainaba were retrieved from the river. Two other women, Beevathu and Rasiya are recovering at the Alathiyur government hospital after they were rescued immediately after the boat overturned.
The six people were mussel collectors and they were returning home after their catch when the country boat overturned in heavy undercurrents in the river.
