Chennai, Oct 20 (BPNS)

With the tabling of Justice Arumughaswamy commission on the circumstances that led to the passing away of former Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa and the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission coming out against policemen in Thoothukudi firing, the principal opposition party of Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK is in a corner.

While Justice Arumughaswamy commission has recommended a probe on the former interim general secretary of the party and close aide of late Jayalalithaa, V.K. Sasikala, former minister in the AIADMK government, Dr. C. Vijayabhaskar and Justice Aruna Jagadeesan committee has hit out against former Chief Minister and AIADMK present interim general secretary of not having acted according to the intelligence inputs.

The Justice Arumughaswamy commission has in its report tabled in the state assembly stated that Sasikala and Jayalalithaa were not in good terms since 2012 and that even after eminent cardiologist recommending surgery to the former Chief Minister, it was not done. The commission has said that certain vested interests were behind that. It also said that Jayalalithaa ,according to prosecution witnesses had died on December 4th, a day before her death was publicly announced on December 5th and there was something to cover up on this.

Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission in its report said that Edappadi K. Palaniswami did not respond proactively even after the then Inspector General of Police, Satyamoorthy had met him at his Salem residence and briefed him to convince the fishermen on Thoothukudi not to join in the protest prompted by the leftist organisations.

The commission said that Edappadi K.Palaniswami did not take proper heeding to the recommendation of then Inspector General of Police.

The commission ,in its report said that it was quite baffling to note that how a message with a potential to grave law and order situation was left unattended. It also said that it was a classic instance of indifferene and lethargy.

These two reports indicting the AIADMK leadership has put the party in a corner. The AIADMK is already reeling under internal conflicts with the Edapapdi K. Palaniswami faction of the party expelling former Chief Minister and strong man of South Tamil Nadu, O. Panneerselvam from the party. This has led to friction at the grass root level in the party and with the reports of the two commissions coming out against it, the AIADMK is in a coner.
