TN Chief Electoral Officer appoints Assistant returning officers for counting on June 4

The Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu ,Satyabrata Sahoo has announced the appointment of Assistant Returning officers for the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled on June 4.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu said that these Assistant Returning officers will assist the Election Officers on the counting day.

Each Lok Sabha constituency will have 5 to 20 Assistant Returning officers ,according to the statement by the Chief Electoral Officer.

It may be recalled that over 38,500 officials including 4500 micro-observers would be involved in counting of votes in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Sabha elections.

There would be 39 counting centres in the state in 234 rooms and 43 buildings. The Chief Electoral Officer also said that usually 14 tables are placed in a counting room and additional tables would be produced with the permission of Election Commission wherever required.

Counting of votes will commence from 8 am on June 4th with the postal votes being counted initially. Counting in Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)will start from 8.30 am.

The statement also said that each table would be videotaped separately and 3300 tables are to be set up in all the centres.

The election to all the 39 seats of Tamil Nadu was held on April 19, 2024. While the DMK was expecting a landslide winning all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu as the party and its allies won 38 of the 39 seats.
