The DMK general secretary (organization) and state Minister for water resources, S. Duraimurugan said that DMK president and state Chief Minister ,M.K. Stalin will chair a meeting of party district secretaries and Lok Sabha candidates on June 1.
The meeting, according to the statement on Tuesday by Duraimurugan will be held in online mode.
It may be recalled that a recent meeting of the state level leaders of the DMK has decided to axe the party district secretaries who had not performed well in the Lok Sabha elections.
While the DMK is making tall claims of a repeat of the 2019 Lok Sabha election results ,winning 38 of the 39 seats, in reality it will be much less. However DMK and the INDIA bloc will emerge as the single largest group in Tamil Nadu.
A senior leader of the DMK while speaking to BPNS said, “ DMK will take action against those district secretaries who have not performed according to our expectations. The party president had directed all the district secretaries to make it certain that the party candidates and INDIA bloc candidates are winning in their constituencies. However the party and the front will not get as many seats as we had expected and the party president is holding an urgent online meeting of district secretaries to make each one of them accountable for the election results.”
Sources in the DMK told BPNS that some of the present district secretaries will be removed from their posts if the performance was not upto expectations.
