TN Congress party chief oppose PM Modi’s Kanniyakumari mediation

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) chief ,K. Selvperunthugai said that the three day mediation of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Kanniyakumari should not be allowed. He charged that the Election Commission of India should not give permission for such a programme as the Election Model Code of Conduct was in force.

In a social media post on Tuesday night, the Congress leader said that Prime Minister Modi was meditating at Kanniyakumari from May 30 to June 1. He said ,” The Election Commission of India should not give permission for such a programme as the Model Code of Conduct Rules are in force as per the Representation of People’s Act’.

The Congress leader said that Modi was trying for a silent campaign by entering into a three day meditation at Kanniyakumari.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be undertaking a three day meditation at the Vivekananda Rock in Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India from May 30 till June 1.

With the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections being held on June 1, the Congress Tamil Nadu unit president has charged that Modi was in a silent campaign and that the Election Commission of India should not give permission for such a programme by the Prime Minister.

The Congress leader also said that the party would send a letter to the Election Commission of India in this regard and if necessary would move the court against this.
