Chennai, May 28 (BPNS)

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and President of DMK, M.K. Stalin will leave for New Delhi on June 1 to attend the INDIA bloc leadership meet.

In a press statement on Tuesday, the Chief Minister’s Office said that Stalin will be back in Chennai on June 2.

The INDIA bloc leadership meet is in New Delhi to decide on the Prime Minister candidate if the group wins a majority. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has called the meeting of the INDIA bloc leaders in New Delhi on June 1.

DMK and its INDIA bloc allies are contesting in all the 39 seats of Tamil Nadu and are expecting a massive win in the Lok Sabha polls and Stalin will be a major force in the post poll scenario in New Delhi if there is a hung parliament or the INDIA bloc getting a majority.

The DMK and its allies had won 38 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Tamil Nadu. While the party and its allies may not repeat a similar performance, DMK leaders are confident of a huge win in the state.

M.K. Narasimhan, Political Analyst and Director of Centre for Electoral Studies, Coimbatore while speaking to BPNS said, “ During the two UPA governments of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the DMK played a crucial role and late Kalaignar Karunanidhi was a decisive personality in the formation of both those governments. If such a situation arises, DMK will again be crucial and Stalin will play a stellar role in the event of an INDIA bloc gaining lead or even if the results lead to a hung position.”
