Chennai, June 2 (BPNS)

Tamil Nadu police on Sunday found that an email threat received during early hours of the day, that bombs were kept in the Chennai international airport and the YMCA building in Chennai was a hoax.

The Bomb Disposal Squad of the Greater Chennai Police searched every area of the airport and found that there was nothing suspicious in the airport. Similarly the threat of a bomb in the YMCA building also turned out to be a hoax.

Police and bomb squad after detailed search were not able to find anything from the airport or the YMCA premises.

It may be recalled that one week before also there was a threat for Chennai international airport and the anonymous mail has said that a bomb would explode in Chennai airport within a week. The mail was received by a private airline and two media houses.

Sources in the Greater Chennai Police told BPNS that the cyber wing of the police have commenced a detailed study on the sources of the email.

The Police have also registered a case and commenced investigation on the fake bomb threat.
