TASMAC register 200 crore business in one single day on Monday as liquor shops are closed today

Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) Ltd has registered Rs 200 crore liquor business in a single day on Monday, according to a statement by the corporation.

The liquor shops in Tamil Nadu are closed on Tuesday due to counting of votes.

There are 5000 liquor shops in Tamil Nadu under TASMAC and every day the business touches Rs 80 to Rs 100 crore. However on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the business used to touch Rs 120 crore and 130 crore.

TASMAC sources told BPNS that on a regular Monday, the sale would have touched Rs 100 crore but on June 3rd, Monday, the sale doubled and touched Rs 200 crore. This is due to the fact that Tuesday is a dry day on account of counting of votes.

The Tamil Nadu Home, Prohibition and Excise Department have ensured that there is no sale of liquor today. This is following directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI)
