The DMK will organize a conference of local body representatives of the party at Namaakkal on July 3. Senior party leaders including Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, Youth wing leader, Udayanidhi Stalin, state water resources minister, S. Duraimurugan, and other leaders will participate in the meeting.
In a statement on Tuesday, the DMK organizing secretary, R.S. Bharathy said that the meeting will be organized to provide training to the local body representatives and senior leaders including Chief Minister will share their administrative experience with the party local body representatives.
The elected representatives will also be given guidelines on discharging their duties effectively. The DMK leadership also said that the July 3rd meeting will be an opportunity for the elected representatives including women representatives who are freshers in the field.
It may be noted that the DMK has won a landslide in the rural local body elections and also in the urban local body polls. There have been complaints of a large number of people’s representatives not having proper knowledge of the functioning of the local bodies and the system. DMK will rope in acclaimed bureaucrats and senior party leaders to provide the councilors a proper training for the elected representatives.
