- July 14, 2022

Chennai, July 14 (BPNS)

The lone Member of Parliament of the AIADMK, O.P . Raveendranath who is the son of O. Panneerselvam, his brother, and sixteen others were expelled from the party. The AIADMK interim general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami expelled Raveendranath, his brother Jayapradeep, former minister Vellamandi N. Natarajan and other leaders from the party.

Edappadi Palaniswami in a press statement on Thursday said that move is a disciplinary action and that all of them had acted against the party discipline. The statement also said that these leaders had brought disrepute to the organization and hence they were being expelled from the party.

It is to be noted that the AIADMK is facing a major crisis with Edappadi K. Palaniswami getting control of the party in the general council meeting of July 11 and expelling O. Panneerselvam and his close associates. OPS has approached the Election Commission of India and the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court of India against the actions of the AIADMK general council meeting.
