A Youth who reached Kannur district of Kerala from a middle eastern country was admitted to Kannur government medical college on a suspected monkeypox case. The disease will be confirmed after the test results will be out.
Hospital authorities told BPNS that the youth is under observation in an isolated ward and that his samples are sent for testing at the Pune Virology lab.
The youth, according to the hospital authorities reached Kannur from a middle eastern country after landing at Mangaluru airport.
Kerala health department has increased surveillance at all the five airports in the state from Sunday onwards. Special facilities are set up in Kannur airport for testing those who arrive from foreign countries.
It may be recalled that the first monkeypox case in the country was from Kerala. A 35-year-old person from Kollam district of Kerala who arrived from a middle eastern country tested monkey pox positive and is admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital.
