The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) security officers seized drugs worth Rs 60 crore from a Keralite passenger who had arrived from Zimbabwe and bound for New Delhi. The seizure was effected on Sunday.

CIAL in a statement on Sunday said that the drug, Methaquinol is a psychotropic drug and weighed 30 kg and was worth, Rs 60 crores in international market. The person Muralidharan Nair who hails from Palakkad was handed over to the narcotics department of the Kerala Police.

The Cochin Airport said that the drug was concealed in a secret enclosure in the bag of Muraleedharan Nair and was detected while scanned using state of the art ‘3D MRI’ scanning machine.

CIAL authorities told BPNS that the drug is sent to laboratory for further examination.
