Chennai, Sept 10 (BPNS)
The Tamil Nadu primary school teachers associations want the post of district elementary educational officers (DDEO) and assistant elementary educational officers (AEEO) to be revived for the smooth functioning of the elementary education sector in the state.
It is to be noted that the posts of DDEO and AEEO were abolished in May 2018 and the powers delegated to District Educational Officers (DEO) and chief educational officers through government orders 101 and 108.
R. Doss, general secretary of Elementary School Teachers Association while speaking to media persons said that the District Educational Officers and Chief Educational officers cannot conduct inspections properly as they are already overburdened with their present professional commitments.
He said that the elementary school teacher’s associations have conducted three rounds of discussions with the government in this regard.
Teachers also said that presently it is difficult for the director of elementary education to implement any decision due to the slow pace of reporting from the DEOs and the CEOs.
It is to be noted that a meeting of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and School Education minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is slated soon. Elementary School teachers association expects that after this meeting the posts of DEEOs and AEEOs would be revived and the government orders 101 and 108 scrapped.
