Chennai, Oct 15 (BPNS)

AIADMK leader and Member of Legislative Assembly, R.B.Udhayakumar who was also a former minister said that the party would bounce back in the next elections. He was speaking at a public function at Tirumangalam in Madurai on Friday.

The AIADMK leader called upon the party cadres not to lose morale and said that the party was in power for 31 years in the last 50 years. He said that of the 11 legislative assembly elections held 11 times in the state, the AIADMK front had won 7 times.

The senior leader said that the results of the rural local body polls in the nine districts of the state do not reflect upon the grass root situation in the state and that the DMK wins were mainly due to manipulation.

The former minister questioned the decision of the state election commission to conduct rural local body polls in two phases even though the previous AIADMK government had conducted a crucial assembly election in a single phase.

The AIADMK leader said that the DMK forced the authorities to conduct elections in two phases to manipulate the process. He said that in Tirumangalam there were several double entries and even after pointing out repeatedly, the election commission officials have not taken note of the matter.

He said that the DMK workers had exercised the voting rights of several people who have died and of many people who are serving the various regiments of the Indian army in different parts of the country.

The AIADMK leader said that people were always with the AIADMK and that the party cadres should not be demoralized by the tricks played by the ruling front. He said that after the defeat of AIADMK in 1996, DMK leaders and cadres had written off AIADMK but under the leadership of J. Jayalalithaa the party bounced back to power. He said that the AIADMK coming back to power is only a matter of time.

The AIADMK leader was addressing cadres at Tirumangalam as preparation for the golden jubilee celebrations of the party to be held on October 17.
