No vehicle movement in Sundays from 6 to 8 am in Hosur to enable walking, cycling

The Krishnagiri district police in Tamil Nadu have banned vehicular traffic from 6 am to 8 am at five spots in Hosur municipal corporation on all Sundays from 10th April onwards to enable free movement for walking and cycling.

The five spots where vehicular traffic will not be allowed in Hosur municipal corporation is Hosur- Kothur junction to TVS,  Mathigiri junction to Anthiwadi, Muthumariamman temple to Wendt India, Sub Collector office to Central excise office and Bathalapalli market to Kaligambal temple near HUDCO police station are the spots were vehicle traffic is prohibited from 6 am to 8 am on all Sundays commencing coming Sunday. However police said that ambulances and emergency vehicles will be allowed to ply.

Krishnagiri district superintendent of Police, Saroj Kumar Thakur while speaking to BPNS said, “ Mumbai police have recently launched such an initiative from 6 am to 10 am on Sundays in selected spots  to encourage yoga, walking, and cycling and we will be restricting vehicular movement in Hosur municipal corporation from 6 am to 8 am on all Sunday’s commencing next Sunday.”

The police official also said that four special teams with 12 police personnel on each team will patrol in Hosur to control crime and maintain law and order and two teams will manage the traffic.

Hosur Federation of All Residential Welfare Association president, R. Dorai while speaking to BPNS said, “ The idea of the Krishnagiri district police is good but we have not been informed of the traffic diversions due to the ban on vehicular movement in these five spots. Moreover, most of the residents do their morning walk, and exercise including jogging and yoga within the residential complexes itself.”

He also called upon the police to prevent miscreants in an inebriated state causing trouble to morning walkers and joggers and to provide police security in the residential areas against this menace.
