Milma hikes milk price by ₹4 per litre from tomorrow , curd rates also revised.

- May 31, 2026

Thiruvananthapuram, May 31:

In a move aimed at providing greater support to dairy farmers, the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) has announced a ₹4 per litre increase in the retail price of milk across the state with effect from June 1. The federation has also raised the price of curd by ₹10 per kilogram.

Milma said the decision was taken in response to the steadily rising cost of milk production, including increased expenses on cattle feed, labour, transportation, and other farm inputs. The cooperative emphasized that a major portion of the additional revenue generated through the price hike would directly benefit dairy farmers.

According to Milma, ₹3.35 out of the ₹4 increase per litre — accounting for 83.75 per cent of the total hike — will be passed on to milk producers. The federation noted that the revision is intended to improve the livelihoods of thousands of dairy farmers who have been facing mounting financial pressures in recent years.

While the revised rates come into force from Sunday midnight, consumers may continue to find old prices printed on milk packets for some time. Milma clarified that the process of updating packaging with the new prices is currently underway and may take up to a month to be completed.

The cooperative also indicated that prices of other dairy products could be revised proportionately in the coming days.

Under the new pricing structure, Milma Smart Double Toned Milk (500 ml, yellow packet) will cost ₹27 instead of ₹25. Milma Homogenised Toned Milk (525 ml, blue packet) will be priced at ₹30, up from ₹28. Milma Pride Homogenised Milk (500 ml, orange packet) will also cost ₹30, compared to the previous ₹28.

The price of Milma Rich Standardised Homogenised Milk (500 ml, green packet) has increased from ₹29 to ₹32, while Milma Classic Curd (525 grams) will now be sold at ₹40 instead of ₹35.

This is the first revision in Milma’s milk prices since December 1, 2022, when the federation increased rates by ₹6 per litre. The latest hike is expected to offer relief to dairy farmers, though it is likely to add to household expenditure on essential dairy products across Kerala.
