Thiruvananthapuram, June 21

Natyaveda College of Performing Arts, Vattiyoorkavu, marked International Yoga Day on Sunday with a special message highlighting the close relationship between yoga, classical dance and holistic well-being.

Extending Yoga Day greetings, the institution said, “Asana in stillness, Natya in motion. True dance is nothing but a moving meditation.” The message underscored the importance of achieving harmony between mind, body and soul through the combined practice of yoga and artistic expression.

According to Natyaveda, yoga forms an integral part of a dancer’s training, helping improve flexibility, concentration, breath control, balance and physical endurance. The institution noted that the principles of yoga are deeply embedded in India’s classical dance traditions, where every movement and posture reflects mindfulness, discipline and spiritual awareness.

“Today the Natyaveda family celebrates the perfect alignment of mind, body and soul through the divine rhythm of expression and breath,” the institution said while observing the International Yoga Day celebrations.

The institution also announced that admissions to its yoga programmes are now open.
