Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s much-anticipated live show in Sydney has been postponed after his Australian visa was not approved in time, leaving the actor unable to travel for the event scheduled on Saturday.
The programme, titled Vaikittu Endha Paripadi (What’s on the agenda this evening?), was scheduled to be held at the Northwest Convention Centre in Sydney. Organised by Kayal Events, the show was expected to feature Mohanlal alongside several other artistes, some of whom had already arrived in Australia for the performance.
Mohanlal announced the postponement in a video message shared on social media, apologising to his fans and expressing disappointment over the unexpected turn of events.
Speaking from Singapore, the actor said every possible effort had been made to secure the necessary travel clearance and ensure the show went ahead as scheduled. However, the visa approval did not arrive in time, forcing the organisers to postpone the event.
Mohanlal said he had been performing on stage for decades and had always made an effort to take his programmes to audiences in different parts of the world. He noted that he had performed in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany earlier this year.
The actor said extensive preparations had gone into the Sydney programme, which was designed to showcase some of his best stage concepts for audiences in Australia. Several members of the performing team had reached Sydney ahead of the event.
Referring to the delay in his visa, Mohanlal said he was unsure what had caused the problem and suggested that it could have been the result of a clerical error. He also apologised to fans who had made plans to attend the programme.
Kayal Events confirmed that an unforeseen delay in the visa approval process involving the headline artiste had necessitated the postponement.
A revised date for the Sydney show is yet to be announced.
