Thiruvananthapuram, August 17

Kerala is expected to receive isolated light rainfall on Monday, while a high-wave warning has been issued for several coastal stretches amid the possibility of sea incursions on Tuesday.

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services warned that waves measuring between 0.9 metres and 1.5 metres could hit parts of the Kerala coast between 8.30 a.m. and 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The warning covers the coastal stretches from Kappil to Pozhiyur in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappad to Edava in Kollam, Chellanam to Azhikkal Jetty in Alappuzha and Munambam Fishing Harbour to Maruvakkad in Ernakulam.

The Kanyakumari coast could experience waves between 1.3 metres and 1.5 metres because of the Kallakkadal phenomenon until 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to remain vigilant. People in vulnerable locations should move to safer places if directed by the authorities. Beach tourism and other recreational activities must be avoided until the warning is withdrawn.
