Chennai, June 13 (BPNS)

Tamil Nadu Congress president, K.S. Alagiri led a protest march in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office against the summons issued by the ED to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son and Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi. The protest was part of a nationwide agitation against the ED move planned by the Congress party.

Even as the Congress leaders were protesting in front of the Enforcement Directorate Office in Chennai, Rahul was questioned in Delhi at the ED office.

The Congress leaders during protest at Chennai alleged that the premier investigating agency was charging false cases against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

K.S. Alagiri while speaking to IANS said that there were no financial irregularities and hence the ED charging the case would not stand. He said that the probe was initiated by the Narendra Modi government to divert the attention of the people of the country from rising prices of essential commodities, slowing of the economy, high fuel prices, and high inflation.

He also said that Rahul Gandhi would overcome all these challenges and come out of them.

Congress legislators and several state and district leaders of the party took part in the agitation. There was sloganeering against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS leadership over the ED summons and probe against Rahul Gandhi.

Alagiri and other leaders were detained and later released on police station bail.
