Dr. Nawab Mir Nasir Ali Khan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hyderabad for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, participated in the prestigious Astana International Forum 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan. He attended as an invited delegate of His Excellency Serik Zhumangarin, Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The forum, inaugurated by the President of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, welcomed over 5,000 participants from more than 50 countries, including over 80 heads of state, ministers, and global business leaders. Held under the theme “Connecting Minds, Shaping the Future,” the event served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on key global issues such as security, economic transformation, climate action, and sustainable development.
During his visit, Dr. Khan held discussions with Mr. Yousuf Aljawder, Chairman of Astana International Airport and a long-time associate, regarding the proposed expansion of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. They also explored the possibility of launching direct flights between Hyderabad and Kazakhstan. Both parties recognized the strategic value of improving air connectivity to boost trade, tourism, and investment between the two nations.
It was further noted that Astana International Airport has signed a 25-year operational agreement with Terminal Holding UAE, which is investing approximately USD 1.1 billion into the airport’s modernization and development. GMR Airports, which operates the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, has also expressed keen interest in establishing direct air links with Kazakhstan.
Dr. Khan lauded the visionary leadership of Kazakhstan for hosting such a forward-looking global event. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the multifaceted relationship between India and Kazakhstan, with a focus on promoting partnerships in trade, education, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
