K Shanmugham resigns from the post of Advisor to Chief minister

Chennai, May 3(BPNS)

 K Shanmugham, advisor to Chief minister of Tamil Nadu and former Chief secretary of the state resigned from the post following the election results.

 Shamugham who was appointed to the post of Advisor to the Chief minister  Edappadi K Palaniswami put in his papers on Monday to the Chief secretary, Rajeev Ranjan.

After resignation he expressed his gratitude to all his colleagues and the state government for extending full cooperation while he was working as the advisor to the Chief minister.

Shanmugham was appointed as Chief secretary on June 30, 2019 and was to retire on July 30,2020 but was given an extension of three months by the Union government following a request by the EPS government.

He was a 1985 batch IAS officer and headed the finance department in the state before being promoted as the Chief secretary.
