Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Saturday congratulated two teachers from the State who have been selected for the National Teachers’ Award, saying their achievement had brought pride to Tamil Nadu and the teaching community.
The recipients are Thangaraj of Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School and Amudha of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madurai. They will receive the awards from the President of India during the Teachers’ Day celebrations.
In a statement, Vijay said the national recognition reflected the teachers’ commitment to education, innovative classroom practices and concern for the welfare and overall development of their students.
Teachers carried the noble responsibility of shaping children’s futures, the Chief Minister said. Their role extended beyond academic instruction to nurturing confidence, curiosity, discipline and social responsibility among young learners.
Vijay said the honour conferred on Thangaraj and Amudha added to Tamil Nadu’s reputation for educational excellence. It also acknowledged the sustained efforts of the wider teaching community in strengthening learning outcomes and preparing students to meet future challenges.
He expressed hope that the award would motivate the two teachers to pursue their work with renewed dedication and inspire other educators across the State. Their example, he said, demonstrated how creative teaching methods and a strong focus on student welfare could make a lasting difference in schools and surrounding communities.
The Chief Minister wished both teachers continued success and said their service would illuminate the lives of many more students in the years ahead.
The National Teachers’ Awards are presented annually on Teachers’ Day to honour educators who have made notable contributions to improving school education and enriching the lives of students. The selection of the two teachers has placed renewed focus on the role of committed educators and Tamil Nadu’s broader contribution to the country’s education sector in recent years.
