TN Chief minister Stalin orders government to bear Covid treatment expenses of private hospitals

Chennai, May 7(BPNS)

Tamil Nadu Chief minister MK Stalin who assumed office on Friday has ordered that the government would bear all the expenses incurred by Covid patients in private hospitals. The state health insurance cover will bear the expenses of Covid treatment from private hospitals hereon, the Chief minister in his order said.

The Chief minister also issued another order sanctioning Rs 2000 each to  Rice card holders in Tamil Nadu. There are around 2.07 crore rice card holders in the state.

An official communique read, “The chief minister signed an order to extend Rs 2000 each to 2.07 crore family card holders at an expenditure of Rs 4153.39 crore.”

The Chief minister also signed an order of reducing the milk price of public sector “Aavin” ,milk brand by R 3 per litre. Stalin also signed an order permitting women to travel in ordinary town buses free of cost. The official release said, “ The government will bear the additional expenditure of Rs 1200 crore as subsidy to the transport corporations.”

The new Chief minister also issued an order to constitute a new department ,”Chief minister in your constituency”. An IAS officer will be posted to run the department on a day to day basis.

After taking oath of office ,the new Chief minister MK Stalin visited his mother Dayalu Ammal, his step mother Rajathi Ammal and paid respects at the tomb of his father Kalaignar Karunanidhi and DMK founder leader and former Chief minister CN Annadurai.

He also paid floral tributes at the memorial of social reformer EV Ramasamy Periyar at his memorial “Periyar Thidal” at Vepery.
