TN election results 2026: Parties set up counting day preparations amid tight contest

Chennai,May 2 :

With the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results scheduled to be declared on May 4, political parties across the state have intensified their preparations for counting day, anticipating a closely contested outcome. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance, the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) are all putting in place detailed strategies to monitor the counting process and safeguard their electoral interests. The ruling DMK, headed by Chief Minister M K Stalin, is confident of retaining power and has instructed party cadres and agents to remain vigilant throughout the counting process. Senior leaders have been assigned to oversee sensitive constituencies, ensuring coordination between counting agents and party headquarters.

The AIADMK-led alliance, led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, is equally cautious, particularly in constituencies where the margin of victory is expected to be narrow. Party functionaries have been asked to verify Form 17C data and closely track each round of counting to prevent discrepancies.

Meanwhile, the debutant TVK, led by C Joseph Vijay, is leaving no stone unturned. Candidates have been instructed to remain present at counting centres with all necessary documentation, reflecting the party’s seriousness despite being a first-time contender.

With exit polls indicating a competitive race and the possibility of fragmented mandates in some regions, counting day is expected to witness heightened tension and intense scrutiny across the state.
