The Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) launched luggage and parcel services on Wednesday with fares ranging from Rs 210 to Rs 390 excluding 18% GST.

The service is launched to increase the non- ticket revenue of the transport corporation. The state transport corporation officials told BPNS that this would benefit the general public and business people in large numbers.

The SETC in a statement on Wednesday said that the fare of the cities for 7 cities has also been finalized. According to the statement, for sending a parcel weighing up to 80 kg from Sengottai, Tirunelveli, and Tuticorin to Chennai, a person will have to pay Rs 390 excluding 18% GST.

The statement said that sending an 80 kg  parcel from Hosur or Tiruchi to Chennai, it will cost Rs 210.

The parcel and luggage booking is a separate service of the Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation and according to the corporation officials, this would lead to generating revenue for the corporation other than from the ticket collection.
