Army Chief honours Satya Babu for contribution to para sports

Shri Satya Babu, President of the South Asia Para Sports Federation and Director of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), has been awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card by General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, Chief of the Army Staff, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of para sports in India and across South Asia.

The Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card is one of the Indian Army’s distinguished honours, presented to individuals who have rendered exceptional service and made significant contributions in their respective fields. Satya Babu received the recognition for his sustained efforts in strengthening the para sports movement and creating greater opportunities for athletes with disabilities to compete and excel at the national and international levels.

Over the years, Satya Babu has played a key role in expanding the reach of para sports by promoting inclusive sporting initiatives, encouraging grassroots talent and supporting athletes in their pursuit of excellence. As President of the South Asia Para Sports Federation and Director of the Paralympic Committee of India, he has worked to improve opportunities for para athletes while strengthening regional cooperation in adaptive sports.

The recognition by the Chief of the Army Staff reflects the growing importance being accorded to para sports in the country and acknowledges the contribution of sports administrators who have helped build a more inclusive sporting ecosystem.

Reacting to the honour, Satya Babu expressed gratitude and dedicated the award to para athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to promote inclusive sports.
