London, July 4:
India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi fulfilled one of the biggest milestones of his fledgling career on Saturday, making his senior international debut in the second T20 International against England in London.
The 15-year-old was named in India’s playing XI in place of Sanju Samson, becoming the youngest cricketer ever to represent India at the senior international level. Vaibhav opened the innings alongside Abhishek Sharma after India won the toss and elected to bat.
The second match of the five-match T20I series got underway after the opening game was washed out due to rain, leaving both teams eager to secure the first result of the series.
Vaibhav’s debut also saw him rewrite the record books. At 15 years, 3 months and 7 days, he surpassed Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar to become the youngest player to make a senior international appearance for India.
Tendulkar had made his international debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days during India’s tour of Pakistan in 1989, a record that had stood for nearly four decades before being eclipsed by the Bihar-born prodigy.
Widely regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents, Vaibhav has attracted national attention through his fearless batting and remarkable performances in age-group cricket and domestic competitions. His elevation to the senior side at such a young age marks another significant milestone in his rapidly rising career.
Cricket fans had been eagerly awaiting the teenager’s international debut, and his inclusion in the playing XI against England is being viewed as the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Indian cricket.
