Dharwad, August 23

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday alleged that vested interests within India and abroad were working together to weaken Hinduism and undermine the country’s strength.

Addressing a religious discourse organised as part of the Chaturmasya programme at the Gopalpur Uttaradi Math in Dharwad, Joshi called upon Hindus to set aside their internal differences and remain united to protect society and Sanatana Dharma.

“Some people are trying to destroy Hindu society as a whole. They include individuals within the country and forces abroad. They are jointly working to weaken our faith, religion and the nation,” he said.

Joshi said the prevailing situation made it necessary to bring people closer to dharma and encourage them to follow the path shown by seers. For ordinary people, adhering to the guidance of spiritual leaders was itself a form of dharma, he added.

Acknowledging that Hindu traditions encompassed diverse beliefs and schools of thought, the Minister said differences in practices and opinions should not become an obstacle to unity.

“Our practices and beliefs may differ, and followers of various streams of thought may hold different opinions. However, protecting society should remain our common objective,” he said.

Describing Hinduism as a great religion, Joshi urged people to take pride in its values and traditions. He also appealed to the public to refrain from criticising the sages and established practices of Sanatana Dharma.

According to Joshi, dharma was not confined to ritual observance but also involved leading a pure and disciplined life and performing one’s duties without selfish motives.

“Whatever one’s faith may be, following dharma brings happiness and peace. This is the message being conveyed by Sri Satyatmateertha Swami,” he said.

The Minister reiterated that unity, spiritual guidance and selfless conduct were essential to counter threats facing Hindu society.
