Puducherry, August 3(BPNS)
The Union Territory of Puducherry on Tuesday reported 885 active Covid -19 cases. This is the first time in the past four months that the active Covid -19 cases in the territory have come down below 900.
The Union territory also reported 73 fresh cases on Tuesday and 132 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum fresh cases with 50, followed by Karaikkal (11), Yanam (8), and Mahe (4). Test positivity rate stood at 1.3% in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases with 653 followed by Karaikal (127), Mahe (74), and Yanam (31).
The Union Territory did not report a death due to Covid -19 on the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The death toll in the UT stood at 1795. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum number of deaths with 1422 cases followed by Karaikal ( 230), Yanam (105) and
Mahe ( 38).
Puducherry Union Territory has so far reported 1.21 lakh cases and 1.18 lakh patients recovered. The recovery rate was 97.8 %.
7.14 lakh doses of the Covid -19 vaccine were administered including the second dose in the Union Territory to date, according to a statement from the Health Department of the territory.
