Kochi, August 20: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has widened its investigation into T. Veena, daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, over transactions involving her company, Exalogic Solutions, and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).

Investigators are examining whether an alleged transfer of ₹85 lakh to Dubai breached provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The transaction reportedly figures in handwritten accounts said to have been recovered from Veena.

The agency is seeking to determine how the money was transferred, its intended purpose and the identity of the recipient. As part of this inquiry, investigators have extended their verification process to Dubai.

The ED is also examining whether the funds allegedly handled by Veena were disproportionate to her declared sources of income. She is likely to be summoned for another round of questioning next week in light of the latest findings.

A separate line of inquiry concerns a mobile SIM card allegedly obtained in the name of Kozhikode-based DYFI leader Nandulal and used by Veena from 2024. Nandulal reportedly told investigators that he procured the connection at the request of Veena and former minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas.

He is said to have told the agency that Riyas was a close friend and that he also knew Veena, but maintained that he was unaware of the purpose for which the connection had been obtained.

Investigators suspect that the SIM card, allegedly installed in a Wi-Fi router and used mainly for internet calls, may have been linked to communications concerning possible hawala transactions.

During a recent search at Nandulal’s residence, the ED reportedly seized copies of documents used to secure the connection. The agency is now analysing communications and transactions associated with the number. It has not announced any conclusive finding of wrongdoing against those under investigation so far.
